Interview with Brian “destrukt” Flander Full Name: Brian Flander Date of Birth: January 19th, 1982 Place of birth: Minneapolis, MN Country of Residence: United States of America City of Residence: Becker, MN Profession: Professional cyberathlete Where do your nicknames “destrukt” and “DKT” originate from?
“destrukt” is a modification of the word “destruct.” I originally thought of this name when I was 14 years old. “DKT” was an alias I used to use when I was practicing and people started figuring out it was me, so DKT caught on and now everyone calls me DKT for short of destrukt. What computer games do you play professionally and why? I have played Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, Painkiller, and now Quake 4 professionally. I prefer playing duel games however I had fun and competed at a high level in the team game Counter-Strike.
What made you decide to pay computer games professionally? Gaming is my passion. There is nothing else I would rather be doing then competing in professional computer game tournaments.
What would be your advice to anyone inspiring to play computer games professionally?
Keep on trucking. What is your gaming motivation? Winning, I want to be the best. What can you not game without? I need my Everglide Titan™ MonsterMat™ - DKT Edition!
What was your ultimate gaming triumph? I won the WCGC Unreal Tournament 1v1 competition in the year 2000 in Seoul, Korea. The WCGC was the pilot for what is now known as the WCG. How does the Everglide Titan™ MonsterMat™ - DKT Edition improve your gameplay? It provides me with a surface that is consistent and large enough to allow me to use lower sensitivity. What else can you tell us about the Everglide Titan™ MonsterMat™ - DKT Edition? Its surface is also great for high sensitivity players. It’s smooth, but there is a small amount of friction for the high sensitivity gamer. |
